OffKai Expo

Quiet Room

OffKai Expo is proud to provide a Quiet Room in room 211CD for guests who need a low-sensory environment to get away from the hustle and bustle of the event. The Quiet Room will open from 10 am to 6 pm Friday and Saturday, and from 10 am to 2 pm on Sunday.

Quiet Room Rules

The purpose of our quiet room is to have a safe place for anyone who needs a break, particularly attendees with sensory disorders, migraines, or individuals on the autism spectrum.

This space is for attendees to take a break from the noise and excitement of the convention, to meditate, pray, nurse/breastfeed, chill, and recharge. Please follow these rules to ensure that all attendees can enjoy a respectful and relaxing environment:

  • Respect the needs of others.
  • Please keep speech and noise to a minimum.
  • Please mute phone and app notifications. Use headphones or earbuds at moderate volume only.
  • If you have to take a phone call or have a conversation, please do so outside the quiet room.
  • Turn off bright lights and blinking accessories. If you are using a screen (laptop or phone), please point it away from others, especially if you are viewing a high-motion or high-flashing video.
  • Nursing mothers are welcome, as are breast pumps. However, this is not a children’s play space.
  • Rest is encouraged, however sleeping is discouraged, except for brief naps. This is not intended as a sleeping room.
  • Slow quiet motions such as stretching, light yoga, and Tai Chi are permitted. Aerobic or high-speed activities, such as jogging and jumping jacks, are not permitted.
  • Stim toys are available for use, but please be respectful and leave them in the room when you are finished so others may use them.
  • Please be considerate of other attendees’ personal space and keep the way clear for wheelchair access.
  • Please do not use scented products, oils, or bring strongly scented food into the room.
  • Please clean up after yourselves and let the staff know if the room needs attention.

Thank you for using the Quiet Room and respecting the space.
